Just wondering with all the talk of God or no God where everyone in here stood on the Capital Pushishment....
I found an interesting quote to even go with the topic. Not that I agree or disagree though...
"Why do we kill people who kill people to show people that killing people is wrong?" --unknown

Oh gods, dont get me started...to late.
IMO, I think CP is crap. I mean, who are we to lay judgement on ANYBODY? Even if that somebody is a mass murderer or what have you. I mean, call me crazy, but doesn't it sort of defeat the purpose? Reprimanding a killer by killing them? It makes the government no better than the common killer, for they are doing the exact same thing. Sure, its in the name of the law and whatnot but still, there simply has to be a better way. I don't usually argue about this because people seem to get crazy and up in my face about it, but so be it. I have a right to my own opinions, no?
I cant speak for familys of victims though..I am almost positive I would still feel the same way if we were talking about say, a person who was responsible for killing a loved one of mine. I just don't agree with it in the least.

interesting topic.
i'm torn.
i do not mind capital punishment... if the
'justification' behind it wasn't so righteous
and hypocritical. personally, i find CP to be
just another form of population control -- though
it could be argued that its a little slow on
the uptake.
also, i do not 'like' CP because the process
is drawn-out. if there were a public execution
square, and the accused were put to death
within a few weeks... thats different. but i
understand that because of quick accusations
and faulty evidence, its best to wait a while
before conviction/sentencing.
IMO, there will always be murder....
and there will always be crime
i am neither supportive of CP or in opposition to it...
only the 'justification' of it

Just a couple of interesting links in cases that happened in Colorado that were up for capital punishment. Some are against it, some are for it. I am not here to sway either side... just giving the facts of the cases so people can make an informed descision on each case and try to see it from the victim stand point. Such as if you were related to them or they were your wife or girlfriend etc... which would you fight for. For death in a revengefull mannor hoping that it would deter others while at the same time eaasing your pain. Or opt out for life in prison hoping to ignor the loss and move on with your life.

Now where does everyone stand and why??

I've never had a problem with the Death Penalty. Horrific crimes should come with an equally horrific punishment. I'm only sad that a family/victim getting their closure to a crime usually tends to come about 15-years too late, and the Death Penalty is administered similar to the Humane Society; a shot in the arm to make you fall asleep, then a booster shot to make your heart stop. Some crimes are so fuckin nasty, wish the perp was able to be given a similar ammount of pain & humiliation before dying.
I'm borderline agnostic/athiest too, so bringing Gawd into the equation doesn't work in either a pro/con way here!
I say: One appeal after a perp is convicted of a capitol offence. If that one & only appeal fails to resolve him/her of the crime, no mitigating circumstances, IMMEDIATELY take them out behind the courthouse & put a bullet in the back of their heads. THAT would be a deterrent! THAT would put some teeth back into a legal system which has only gotten lawyers & frivolous-lawsuit plaintiffs money these last 40 years!

you know, in all fairness....
if a society is going to blame such influences
as music, televison, movies and other vehicles
for the 'root cause' of violent crimes...
it would serve to ponder the clausen/unc case.
it is no surprise to me that the girl pulled
over thinking the guy was some unmarked car/cop.
i think many would have done the same.
as stated in a waaay old thread once, i saw
this unmarked cop on the road in a beat-up
lookin car and wearing normal clothes.
what made me 'assume' it was a legitimate cop
was the fact that the 'beat-up' car was really
just decoration and it had the fancy flashing
cop lights behind the grill. not to mention
the fact that the cop was standing next to
another vehicle, issuing someone a ticket.
anyways... back to the issue....
i'll comment on it when i have some extra time.
right now my head hurts and i'm going to bed.

the outcome of Lacy Millers death and the trial was over yesterday. In a plea he pled guilty so he recieved life in prison without parol. Maybe he will get the same fate as Jeff Dalmer. We can only hope. If you want to see the details of the trial and what exactly he did to recieve this view the link below.

Hmmm, i have a nice text on punishments etc, eventually i came to the reasoning that punishment itself morally questionable towards the person being punished, good fun all, i'll see if i can find it and translate it to english.

I'm for the death penalty.
It provides just punishment and an example as to what will happen to you if you take a life.
As for equating the death of the murderer to the death of the victoms, well thats just ludicrous. One is taking an innocent life, the other the taker of the innocent life.
